Ms. Mary Wishert

My name is Mary Wishert, and I am the school counselor at Ouabache Elementary School. I am so excited to continue serving our students and families and to be part of the Ouabache family! I attended Ivy Tech Community College, where I earned my Associate’s Degree with a focus on Elementary Education in May 2017. I then attended Indiana State University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on Elementary Education in December 2019. I later continued my education and earned my Master’s of Education degree with a focus on School Counseling in May 2022. I am originally from North Salem, Indiana. I am married to my wonderful husband, Garth Wishert, and we are so excited to welcome our baby boy in January 2027! This is my fifth year as a licensed school counselor, and I am excited to continue my professional counseling career. I love being able to support students and their families throughout their educational journey and help students grow both inside and outside of the classroom. I am so thankful to be a part of Ouabache Elementary School and look forward to another amazing school year!

Partnerships

Our Community Partners

At Ouabache Elementary School, we believe it truly takes a village to support our students and families. We are grateful to partner with several community organizations that help us provide additional resources, support, and services to our school family. We work closely with Hamilton Center to help connect students and families with mental health and wellness resources. We also collaborate, as needed, with organizations such as Valley Professionals, CASY, and CASA, depending on the individual needs of our students and families. These partnerships allow us to work together to ensure our students have the support, resources, and caring adults they need to learn, grow, and thrive. We are incredibly thankful for the community organizations that help make a difference in the lives of our Ouabache students and families!

Kids Hope

We are so thankful for our partnership with Kids Hope and the incredible difference they make in the lives of our students! Kids Hope mentors serve as positive role models, mentors, and friends to students who benefit from having an additional caring adult in their corner. Our Kids Hope mentors spend time getting to know their students, listening to them, playing games, talking, and simply being present. They provide encouragement, support, and a safe space where students know they have someone who cares about them and is there to cheer them on. But the fun doesn't stop there! Our Kids Hope mentors also enjoy celebrating with their students through special parties and activities, creating fun memories and strengthening those important relationships. Through their time, compassion, and commitment, Kids Hope mentors remind our students that they are valued, cared for, and never alone. We are incredibly grateful for the positive impact they have on our students and our Ouabache community!
